Dodgers Getting Red Sox to Pay Half of David Price’s Salary is a Huge Win
By Sean Facey

The Los Angeles Dodgers finally got their man in Mookie Betts following a major trade snafu, but he's only one part of the deal. Southpaw David Price is also headed to Chavez Ravine, and on a bargain at that.
Price's massive contract isn't going to cost them that much, because they managed to get the Boston Red Sox to pay half of the remaining $96 million that he's owed.
Red Sox/Dodgers trade is in fact nearly finished. Source says the Red Sox will pay half of the remaining $96 million remaining on David Price's salary.

All things considered, that's a fantastic deal for Los Angeles. How...did that not...get re-negotiated this week?
Over the last three seasons, Price has pitched to the tune of a respectable 3.72 ERA, logging 381 strikeouts in just 358 innings of work in the AL East. That type of production might not be worth $32 million per year, but at a 50% discount, the story changes completely.

Price could be a huge difference-maker in their rotation, especially considering the starting pitchers that they shipped out to accommodate the incoming salaries.
It took a lot of stress and a massive reworking of the initial framework, but the Dodgers bolstered themselves up for one more run, and they managed to do it on Boston's dime.
