Dodgers Place Hyun-Jin Ryu on Injured List
By Michael Luciano

The Los Angeles Dodgers, who pride themselves on having arguably the best starting rotation in all of baseball, will have to press forward without their South Korean superstar for a good chunk of time.
The Dodgers placed All-Star lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu on the 10-day IL with neck soreness. In a corresponding move, they optioned reliever Dylan Floro while calling up No. 2 prospect Dustin May and reliever Tony Gonsolin.

Scott Alexander moved to the 60-day IL to make 40-man move for May
Ryu turned his fantastic 2018, during which he had a 1.97 ERA in 15 games, into a stellar 2019. He's made the leap from above-average starter to star to Cy Young favorite over the course of the season. His ERA sits at a minuscule 1.53, by far the best in the major leagues and he holds an impressive 11-2 record.
Ryu has only walked 16 batters while striking out 117 in 135 innings this season. Even with Clayton Kershaw and Walker Buehler to pick up the slack, it is inarguable that seeing a player like Ryu hit the IL for any length of time is incredibly concerning.

Ryu will be back on the field soon, but the Dodgers should be just a little nervous after their star hit the IL.
