Dodgers Reportedly Trading Joc Pederson to Angels if Mookie Betts Deal Goes Through
The blockbuster Mookie Betts deal involves the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Minnesota Twins.
A separate trade involving the Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels is also reportedly going to take place if all the medicals go as planned with Betts and Co. This one involves young Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson.
The Dodgers need an outfield spot for Betts and Pederson is the odd man out in the equation. The good news for him is he doesn't have to go far and gets to join an outfield featuring Mike Trout.
In exchange for Pederson the Angels are reportedly sending Luis Rengifo to the Dodgers. It is unclear if that is official or if it depends on the completion of the Betts trade.
Pederson was a 3.3-WAR player in 2019 and hit 36 home runs. He adds yet another power bat to an Angels lineup that could stack up as one of the better ones in the American League with the likes of Trout, Anthony Rendon, and now Pederson.
Rengifo appeared in 108 games for the Angels in 2019 and finished the year with a WAR of 1.6. The infielder is only 22 years old and primarily played second base last season.
