Dodgers Send Down Stud Matt Beaty to Bring Corey Seager Back in Further Proof of Their Power
By Parker White
On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers decided to sent down highly-regarded outfielder Matt Beaty to Triple-A Oklahoma City to make room for shortstop Corey Seager, who is returning from a stint on the injured list.
There's no doubt that the Dodgers needed to clear a roster spot for Seager, who is coming off the injured list after dealing with a hamstring strain. In 66 games this season, Seager is slashing .278/.359/.468 with eight home runs and 38 RBI.
You can't keep that kind of production off the roster, even though Beaty has been equally impressive. Seager is an All-Star caliber player, and had been playing like one at the time of his injury. If anything, this just further proves the Dodgers absurd level of depth, which cannot be matched throughout baseball outside of the New York Yankees.
Beaty has played in only 37 games (108 at-bats) with the big league club, but he's hitting .278 with two home runs and 17 RBI, including a walk-off homer in late-June.
If Beaty continues to hit at Triple-A, which he has (.847 OPS), then you can expect he'll be getting another call up this summer, especially when September roles around.
