4 Potential Trade Deadline Acquisitions Dodgers Fans Should Keep Their Eye on This Year

The Los Angeles Dodgers got their man in Mookie Betts, but the team may continue to take on talent, regardless of the cost. LA is never shy to spend or trade big, and they could specifically target players hitting free agency next year or the year after so the cost isn't too high.

Several players stand out as potential trade deadline targets for the Dodgers in 2020.

4. Joakim Soria

Joakim Soria has been in the majors since 2007 and has recorded 221 saves in his career. He shifted to a non-closer role in 2019 with the Oakland Athletics and appeared in 71 games, finishing with a 4.30 ERA. Soria would be a veteran option to fill the final one or two spots in the bullpen, and it helps he's on an expiring deal.

3. Kris Bryant

Kris Bryant lost his grievance against the Chicago Cubs and is not a free agent until after the 2021 season. The Cubs will be looking to move pieces at the deadline if they're not contending, and trading Bryant to the Dodgers is certainly realistic if that turns out to be the case. LA could ship Justin Turner, who's on an expiring deal, in addition to a few prospects to make this happen.

2. Mike Clevinger

Mike Clevinger is a hot commodity. He has a career 3.20 ERA in 84 starts and had 207 strikeouts during the 2018 season. His name came up in offseason trade rumors and if the Dodgers feel they need one more impact starter at the deadline, look no further than them offering the Indians a package they can't refuse for the electrifying righty.

Francisco Lindor is one of the best players in baseball and is only under contract through 2021 because the Indians can't come to an agreement on a long-term deal. That means we can speculate a trade is coming, especially if the Indians are out of contention by the deadline, because they're going to want maximum value for their stud shortstop. The four-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner might require the Dodgers to move Gavin Lux, so it depends how badly the Dodgers want Lindor.
