Dodgers Utility Star Chris Taylor Suffers Broken Arm After HBP Against Red Sox
By Adam Weinrib
Chris Taylor, one of the engines behind the Dodgers' offensive success, played through some significant pain to finish off the team's 7-4 victory at Fenway Park on Sunday night.
Taylor was drilled in the forearm by a pitch in the 11th inning of that win, but stayed in the game and switched positions for what ultimately became a hard-fought result. And though it somehow wasn't picked up on initially, it turns out Taylor's going to need to take some time off. He's got a fractured left forearm.
His MRI late into the evening on Sunday came back negative, so this does seem a bit baffling; the apparent goof produced by Fenway Park's more or less ancient diagnostic technology surely smarts for Dodger fans who thought they'd dodged a bullet.
Though LA is in a nice position (to say the least) to survive without Taylor, let it be known that he's hitting .321 in his last 15 games. They have the firepower to weather the storm as arguably the best team in baseball this year, but a setback is a setback, and this one isn't a joyous one.
