Dolphins CB Xavien Howard Reportedly Arrested for Domestic Battery
By Karl Rasmussen
There's some disturbing news out of Miami, as Dolphins star cornerback Xavien Howard was reportedly arrested Sunday night.
Per ESPN's Cameron Wolfe, Howard was arrested for domestic battery in Davie, Florida, in an incident that allegedly involved his fiancé.
Details are scarce at the time of writing, though this certainly doesn't bode well for Miami's star defensive back.
Howard signed a lucrative five-year, $75.25 million contract with the Dolphins and remains under contract through the 2024 season. He's due to make just under $12 million in 2020.
The 26-year-old's season was cut short due to a knee injury which resulted in him being placed on injured reserve in October. He appeared in five games in 2019, recording 17 tackles, one interception and four passes defensed. This comes on the heels of a seven-interception season across 12 games in 2018.
We'll provide further updates on the situation as they become available, though at first glance this is certainly troubling news for the Dolphins and their star defender.
