Dolphins Fans Are Going to Love Mel Kiper's Projected Second-Round Picks for Miami
By Michael Luciano
The Miami Dolphins own the 2020 NFL Draft, as Brian Flores' group possesses three first-round picks and two second-round picks. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. expects them to use a good chunk of those selections to beef up a suspect skill position group.
After using the No. 39 overall pick on Louisiana OG Robert Hunt, a bruising road-grader who could start on Day 1, Kiper expects them to go wide receiver with pick No. 56, selecting USC's Michael Pittman Jr., a Senior Bowl and Combine standout.
The son of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Michael Pittman Sr., the former Trojans star has the NFL pedigree teams look for. At 6-4 and 220 pounds with insane ball skills and some of the best hands in this draft, Pittman might be the best wideout in the 2020 class when it comes to winning 50/50 balls. He almost singlehandedly beat Utah, as he put up over 200 yards with a third-string quarterback against a defense that could see as many as eight players drafted this year.
There are some legitimate questions about his speed, both deep down the field off the line of scrimmage, that could weigh heavily on his stock, but this one of the best receivers in the entire draft when it comes to making contested catches.
Pittman is never doing to be a downfield burner, but any quarterback could use his reliable hands and nose for the end zone to great effect. If they draft a rookie quarterback, someone like Pittman could help accelerate his development.
