Dolphins Should Avoid Monster Trade for Joe Burrow and Just Select Tua Tagovailoa at No. 5
By Brady Williams

With the Cincinnati Bengals owning the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and in desperate need of a quarterback, LSU star Joe Burrow is the obvious selection after his historic championship-winning season with the Tigers.
However, according to NFL insider Armando Salguero, the Miami Dolphins will try using their arsenal of 14 draft picks to get in the top spot to select Burrow. If there's any truth to that, they need to pump the brakes immediately. The Dolphins already have a layup at No. 5 with Tua Tagovailoa.
The #Dolphins will make an attempt to trade with the #Bengals for the No. 1 overall pick, per @ArmandoSalguero. Miami owns 14 picks in this year's draft, including six picks in the top-70. They also have double 1s and double 2s in 2021.

Why surrender a ton of draft capital to move up four spots when there's a viable QB option waiting to be taken?
A trade for Burrow would require giving up a ton of draft picks. At present, the Dolphins have three picks in the first round, and six total in the top 70, so they can fill a ton of holes on their roster.
As for Tagovailoa, aside from his injury concerns, he's as pro-ready as any quarterback. In only 32 games across three seasons, Tagovailoa racked up 7,442 passing yards and 87 touchdowns across just 32 games! He's expected to be an instant contributor, and the Dolphins wouldn't need to sacrifice any draft picks to bring him in.
For a team that's been downright bad like the Dolphins, sacrificing too much capital for one player would be irresponsible, regardless of the additions they made in free agency. They need to keep adding talent to compete in the AFC.
According to @MoveTheSticks, the #Dolphins have “strong grades” on Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert. Miami has a “great feeling” about their chances of coming out of this year’s draft with a quarterback they like.

As of right now, Don't expect Miami to trade up.
The Dolphins have a QB for the taking at No. 5 and then have the No. 18, 26, 39, 56 and 70 picks. They can get their hands on 3-4 starters at bargain prices with that draft capital. Miami doesn't need to get fancy here. Play the cards you have and let everything fall into place.
