Miami Dolphins star cornerback Xavien Howard appeared to be in some significant trouble with the law. Now, he can breath a sign of relief.

According to Amber Wilson of 790 The Ticket, domestic battery charges against Howard have been dropped during his arraignment on Thursday.

Howard was arrested back on Dec. 29 after getting into an altercation with his pregnant fiancee over the purchase of a purse.

According to the police report, Howard was alleged to have grabbed both her arms and pushed her against a mirrored glass wall, which caused her to fall onto his walking crutch. The responding officer noticed "redness" on Howard's fiancee's right arm and scratches on her right wrist.

Howard's fiancee signed an affidavit for non-prosecution, telling prosecutors that she didn't want to go forth with the case. Due to a lack of witnesses at the time of the incident, there was no evidence to continue with the case.

Last offseason, the Dolphins signed Howard to a monster five-year, $75.25 million contract extension. His 2019 campaign was cut short due to a knee injury, forcing Miami to place him on injured reserve in October.

Even though no charges are going to be pressed against Howard, he's still subject to punishment from the league under the NFL's personal conduct policy.
