Domingo German Scheduled for Thursday Rehab Start and Could Rejoin Yankees After London Series
By Brendan Azoff
The Yankees could potentially be getting a key piece to the 2019 rotation back when they return to the United States after their quick London getaway. Domingo German, who has been the surprise of the season so far, will make a rehab start at Triple-A Scranton Thursday.
Barring any issues, German will return to the Yankees rotation when the Bombers finish their two-game set against the Red Sox across the pond.
German is 9-2 with a 3.86 ERA this season, and despite a couple of rough starts before his injury, he has been solid for the early portion of the year. If the right-hander can return and impact the rotation similarly to the way he did through his first eight starts, the Yankees dominant roster will get even better.
With the struggles of J.A. Happ and the use of Chad Green and Nestor Cortes in the opener role, the Yankees could use this added boost to solidify their starting five and give their bullpen a rest.
