Kirk Cousins Reportedly Received Call From President Trump After Beating Giants
By Ryan Giglio
After a week of drama and criticism from his own teammates, Kirk Cousins quieted some haters by leading the Vikings to a 28-10 win over the Giants on Sunday.
Cousins' performance even inspired some big-name supporters to reach out and congratulate him-- namely President Donald Trump.
A spokesperson for the Vikings confirmed that Trump called the quarterback to "briefly congratulate him" on Sunday's victory.
Cousins had one of his better games in purple yesterday, completing 22 of 27 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns.
The two reportedly spoke about Trump's upcoming rally at Target Center in Minneapolis on Thursday, though Cousins will not be attending.
The relationship between the two dates back to at least 2017, when the president and the then-Washington Redskin played golf together.
At the time, Cousins indicated that the outing was just about golf and not politics, saying “I know lots of [former presidents] are members at these courses and I’m not, so I’d love to get on and get to met them. Republican, Democrat, left, right, I’d love an invite.”
