VIDEO: Clip Emerges of Donovan Mitchell Joking With Fans About Coronavirus Before Wednesday’s Cancelled Game
By Karl Rasmussen
Rudy Gobert testing positive for coronavirus after his microphone-touching antics seemed to be a brutal dose of irony. Now, footage has emerged of an interaction between Donovan Mitchell and a Jazz fan ahead of Wednesday's game, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Mitchell can be seen telling a courtside-seated fan that he wouldn't pass them the ball due to fear of spreading the virus. Fast forward less than 24 hours, and Mitchell had become the second player in the league to test positive for the COVID-19 virus.
Mitchell was recorded responding to the fan saying, "y'all can't touch it, y'all might have the virus."
While Mitchell's words were said in jest, the young guard would soon discover that it was a very good thing that he didn't let those fans get their hands on the ball.
Now in quarantine, Mitchell took to social media to provide an update on his status to fans.,
We're wishing both Gobert and Mitchell a speedy recovery. Coronavirus is no joke, and this video shows just how close fans can actually get to these star players, and why the NBA had little choice but to bar fans from the arena, and eventually postponing the regular season.
