Doug Gottlieb Defends His Andrew Luck Retirement Take and We Don't Know How He's Still Employed
By Sean Facey
Of all of the freezing cold Andrew Luck takes, Doug Gottlieb by far had the worst. The FOX Sports radio host disrespected the Colts star's decision to retire, saying that it was a cop out and "the most millennial thing ever."
And when he was invited to speak on Boston radio station WEEI, he inexplicably doubled down on the horrendous take, proving just how absurd and clueless he really is.
He chalked up Luck's mentality to being a quitter, saying he had "the idea that 'I'm going to quit because it’s not fun to me anymore,'" which couldn't be further from the truth. This isn't about having fun. This is his health and well-being that are at stake. He's suffered injury after injury, and he wisely choice to not further test his physical limits.
It's telling that former players support Luck, yet mind-boggling that Gottlieb doesn't.
His quote on the entire thing is just so ignorant it's not even funny.
Few people have endured the stress that Luck has. Gottlieb shouldn't be speaking so ruthlessly on Luck's situation when he can't even imagine the pain that the man has been through both mentally and physically during his seven years in the NFL.
It's honestly amazing that this man still has a job. There's simply no way he can truly believe that Luck's retirement is part of the alleged millennial quitter mentality.
Luck is a stand-up guy. He deserves more respect than this. He gave his blood, sweat and tears to football. He endured immense pain to play for the Colts and their fans.
Calling him a quitter is atrocious and classless, and the fact we're allowing well-known sports media figures to take uneducated and knee-jerk reaction shots at Luck is disgraceful.
