VIDEO: Draymond Green Joking About Contract Buyout to Join a Contender is Incredibly Out of Touch
Draymond Green was a star for the dominant Golden State Warriors from 2014-2019, being a key cog that helped the team play like a well-oiled machine. This season, with the departure of Kevin Durant and the injuries to Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry, the Warriors have been one of the worst teams in the association, sporting a 12-43 record. When asked about what it was like to be on a below-average team for the first time, Green had this to say:
What a strange comment by Green. While the team isn't playing as well as people thought, the injuries to the other stars have caused Green's weaknesses to be exposed. This season, Green is averaging 8.3 PPG, 6.4 RPG and 6.2 APG, numbers that should be higher without the three better players who playing with him last season. Furthermore, his shooting has been poor, as he is under 39 percent from the field, and less than 29 percent from behind the arc.
Green is looking awful this season, and his jokes reflect worse on him than anyone else.
A player like Green shouldn't be making jokes like this. He should be figuring out ways to actually help the last place Warriors.
