Drew Brees Announces He's Returning to Saints in 2020 on Instagram

Who Dat?! It's Drew Brees! NFL fans have been waiting for any and all information regarding his free agency in 2020, and now we have a confirmation from the former Super Bowl MVP himself.

He's returning to the New Orleans Saints next season.

Looks like Mr. Brees took a little trip to mull the decision. There was some buzz he was considering retirement considering this will be his age-41 season, but now the Saints will be going for it all once again with their trustworthy veteran QB under center.

The contract situation remains unclear, however. He'll be making $21.3 million next season after the two sides restructured his deal in March of 2019. The Saints added that $21.3 million as dead money, meaning they're committed to paying that price whether he decided to stay or leave.

Now, it's a matter of how much more Brees will earn on whatever new contract he signs with New Orleans.

If he wants to make another run at it, however, it could be wise to take less money (to alleviate the cap hit) and allow the Saints to add some more weapons on either side of the ball.

Nonetheless, Saints fans can rejoice in the meantime knowing their franchise QB is back.
