Drew Brees Actually Used a Stock Photo in His Instagram Apology
By Michael Luciano
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees issued a lengthy apology on Twitter less than 24 hours after he took aim at people that he thought disrespected America and the American flag. After the original firestorm of negativity subsided, Brees' apology seemed to satisfy some, as he was through and contrite in his rebuttal.
However, one eagle-eyed Twitter user found that the photo of a black person and white person shaking hands that Brees used on his Instagram post was literally one of the first images that comes up when you search "black white handshake stock image" on Google.
At least he paid for the stock photo. Maybe that's a sign he truly does care?
Brees has to work overtime to convince fans, players, and teammates that he is indeed sincere in his remorse. Using a stock photo, literally the most inauthentic kind of photo available on the internet, is probably going to set Brees back a few paces.
There are dozens of pictures that Brees could have used that would have been better than a stock photo, including him in the community doing charity work, or him on the field with his teammates. No picture and a screenshot from the Notes app would have been better than that photo.
