Drew Brees Testifies Against Jeweler Friend Who Defrauded Him of Millions of Dollars

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has long alleged that he was a pawn in a massive jewelry scheme that left him millions of dollars in the hole.

Now, he's taken to the stand to build the case against his former friend.

Brees is suing Vahid Moradi, whom Brees claims was a trusted friend of his, for lying about the value of rare diamonds. Brees is seeking at least $7 million in damages.

Brees allegedly spend $15 million dollars on two pieces of jewelry that were later appraised at half of that value.

“I cared for him, cared for his wife, cared for his kids,” Brees said of Moradi. “He became somebody that I referred family and other friends to.”

Moradi's defense team, however, claims that his relationship with Brees was strictly business, and that Brees is a reckless spender.

"They were not friends. Vahid Moradi was Mr. Brees’s friendly jeweler,” attorney Pete Ross said, in a damaging counter-attack. “Drew Brees has an obsession for jewelry. He was drawn in like an addict with a drug.”

With the trial still ongoing, it remains to be seen if Brees is just a reckless spender or if Moradi was genuinely misleading him.
