Shin has worked with high profile athletes in the past. In 2017, Shin performed surgery on Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout, who suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb.
During the first quarter of the much-hyped NFC Championship rematch between the Saints and Los Angeles Rams, Brees attempted a pass, but during his follow-through, his right hand collided with Aaron Donald's. Brees retreated to the sidelines, got his hand wrapped, and would not return for the remainder of the game.
Following the matchup, Brees revealed that he is concerned about his thumb, and he's hoping it's "not too significant." The longtime quarterback also expressed how difficult it was for him to grip a football following the freak injury.
Drew Brees says he hurt his thumb on the pass attempt to Jared Cook & that he hit it on Aaron Donald. Says he is seeing the hand specialist in LA today. Adds he is concerned and that it could be significant.

If Brees is to miss any significant time, head coach Sean Payton will go with backup Teddy Bridgewater, who completed 17-of-30 pass attempts for 165 yards on Sunday, or proverbial Swiss Army knife Taysom Hill.
