Duke Beating the Pants Off Wofford Without Tre Jones Should Only Further Embarrass UNC

On paper, it seemed like a ho-hum night for Mike Krzyzewski and Duke, as a Vernon Carey double-double and 22 from Joey Baker led the Blue Devils to an 86-57 win over Wofford.

However, this win gave Duke another leg up in their ongoing rivalry with the kids at Chapel Hill.

Duke can savor this win knowing that mortal enemy UNC lost to this same Terriers team less than a week ago when they faced off without injured star point guard Cole Anthony. The Devils, on the other hand, crushed Wofford without future NBA point guard Tre Jones in the lineup.

The fact that Duke not only managed to beat Wofford, but also beat the brakes off of them with their second-string point guard, should be flat-out embarrassing for a Carolina team that came into this season with championship aspirations.

When Jones goes down for the Blue Devils, it's next man up. When Anthony goes down for the Tar Heels, all hell breaks loose and they're unable to beat mid-major teams on their own turf. That really paints a stark picture of where these two programs are at right now.
