Dustin Pedroia Transferred to 60-Day IL With Ominous Press Conference Scheduled for Monday

In wake of Dustin Pedroia's most recent setback, it now seems that some sort of announcement is imminent.
Pedoria is set to hold a press conference with Red Sox manager Alex Cora and president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski at 1:45 p.m. ET on Monday.
There have, of course, been plenty of calls from the fans and media alike for Pedroia to retire, as he continues to struggle with injuries, his latest setback coming just before the weekend.
He suffered yet another bout of "crankiness" in the knee during his rehab stint, and was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
The veteran second baseman has been sidelined with knee issues over the past two years, playing just nine games since the conclusion of the 2017 season.
In that brief span, he's gone just 3-for-31, hitting just three singles. The former MVP's numbers in the minors haven't been particularly pleasant either. In 49 plate appearances in 2019, he has a paltry .504 OPS.
Regardless of the outcome of the press conference, the second baseman played at a high level for over a decade in the MLB and asserted himself as the franchise face of the Red Sox.
