Dwayne Haskins Will Reportedly Be Redskins' Starting QB for Rest of Season
By Ian Anderson
The Washington Redskins are making a permanent change at quarterback, and perhaps giving fans a preview of the leader of their franchise for years to come.
Following a dismal 1-8 start to the season, the Washington Redskins announced, during their bye week, that rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins will be the starter for the rest of the season.
Despite having thrown four interceptions in three loses, only one of which Haskins started, Washington is throwing their raw signal caller to the dogs in hopes he makes some strides by the end of the year.
Haskins' last start against Buffalo was promising, however, as the former Ohio State standout completed 68.2% of his passes for 144 yards and no turnovers.
The Redskins' matchup against the New York Jets is a great place to start for Haskins on paper, as their defense just surrendered 308 yards and four touchdowns to fellow rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, who the New York Giants controversially took at the No. 6 pick over Haskins.
The return of running back Derrius Guice gives Haskins' a great crutch to lean on. When healthy, Guice has shown superstar upside. Will the former second-round pick be the difference between the Haskins that we have seen so far and the budding superstar some in Washington believe he can be?
