Dwayne Haskins' Response to Chase Young Entering NFL Draft Will Pump up Redskins and Buckeyes Fans
By Michael Luciano
The best prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft made it official, as Ohio State defensive end Chase Young declared for April's showcase after recording 16.5 sacks in his final season as a Buckeye.
Young's former quarterback Dwayne Haskins is now a member of the Washington Redskins, who hold the No. 2 pick in the draft. With the Cincinnati Bengals all but a lock to take Joe Burrow at No. 1, Haskins seems to think that Ron Rivera will use his first pick as Redskins head coach on the star pass rusher.
Haskins struggled to start his rookie season, but played well down the stretch. Overall, he ended up with seven touchdowns, seven interceptions, a completion percentage of 58 percent, and a 2-5 record as a starter.
Despite a lackluster offense, Young's rare combination of size, speed and power could cause the Redskins to use their only pick in the first two rounds to bring the freakish pass rusher into the nation's capital and pair him with Ryan Kerrigan, Jonathan Allen and Da'Ron Payne.
Washington needs to do some rebuilding and retooling on the offensive side of the ball, but all signs point to the Redskins nabbing the Maryland native Young with the No. 2 overall pick. Between Haskins, Young and Terry McLaurin, the Buckeye connection in Washington could be strong.
