VIDEO: Eagles Down to 2 Healthy Receivers as Alshon Jeffery Carted Off With Non-Contact Injury
By Chris Pyo
Carson Wentz is going to have an even tougher time beating the Giants on Monday Night Football. The Eagles QB is down to two healthy receivers for the game, as Alshon Jeffery had to be carted off the field after suffering a non-contact injury.
Coming into tonight, Wentz had only three receivers to call on in Jeffery, rookie JJ Arcega-Whiteside, and converted QB Greg Ward, who was promoted to the active roster from the practice squad three weeks ago.
For whatever reason, the Eagles decided not to promote any additional receivers to the active roster, and that's now come back to haunt them.
Along with tight end Zach Ertz, Arcega-Whiteside and Ward will be forced to be Wentz' primary targets for the rest of the game. Running back Miles Sanders will surely see an uptick of targets as well.
Regardless of whether Wentz gets Jeffery back anytime soon -- it didn't look good at first glance -- this is going to be a tough game for him to succeed. The Eagles really need this win if they want to win the NFC East division, and the Giants will look to spoil their arch-rivals' season.
