Eagles Are One Move Away From Winning the NFL Offseason

The Philadelphia Eagles have had a solid offseason on paper up to this point. The only questionable move was drafting Jalen Hurts in the second round. Other than that, general manager Howie Roseman added three receivers and also bolstered the back end of the defense.

But there's still one player available on the market who the Eagles should covet. Such a union would be a fit for both sides as the Eagles would add a star who has made it clear he wants to play for a contending team. As of right now the Eagles have over $22 million in cap space and should do what it takes to sign Jadeveon Clowney.

That would win the Birds the offseason.

The initial reaction from some fans would be anger toward Clowney for the hit he laid on Carson Wentz in last year's postseason that was deemed dirty by many. However, he's one of the best defenders in the game and constantly disrupts the quarterback, which would make the Eagles stacked defensive line and pass rush just about unstoppable.

Imagine the pressure that would take off the lackluster secondary?

Clowney would start right away and could get much of the playing time over Derek Barnett at one of the defensive end spots. Brandon Graham would hold down the other spot. Perhaps this would light a fire under Barnett and he would make the most of his time on the field considering he's largely been a disappointment the last three seasons.

The Eagles are already Super Bowl contenders and are currently in an arms race with the Dallas Cowboys. Adding Clowney would raise the stakes and every opposing offensive line would have no answer for their pass rush in 2020.
