Eagles Better Be Planning to Make Big Draft Splash After Weak Showing in Free Agency
By Evan Wolff
The opening of the NFL transaction period for the 2020 season has produced moves that would make Madden look realistic. DeAndre Hopkins has been traded to the Arizona Cardinals, Tom Brady is all but confirmed to be on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and now Nick Foles will be a Chicago Bear. It's been a highly active start to the new league year, for most teams that is.
The Philadelphia Eagles, despite winning the NFC East in 2019, have made no significant additions to the roster. General Manager Howie Roseman has yet to make a big splash, despite some glaring needs on both sides of the ball.
Eagles fans better be hoping Roseman has some tricks up his sleeve come Draft Day. Otherwise, they run the risk of entering 2020 without having made any necessary improvements.
This will be the frustration of many Eagles fans, is that Roseman seems unwilling to part with assets to pay for high-end talent. Despite the fact that Carson Wentz is lacking weapons to help him, no significant efforts have been made to acquire offensive talent.
Meanwhile, the team has allowed the likes of Jordan Howard and Corey Clement to hit the open market, without making a move for a replacement to help share the load with Miles Sanders in the backfield.
The Eagles have 10 picks in the 2020 draft, and now the front office must decide whether they'd be better off spending some of that draft capital for more established assets.
