Eagles Bolster Secondary by Adding Former Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick
By Michael Luciano
Due to either injuries or just plain ineffectiveness, the Philadelphia Eagles' secondary has quickly become a joke, and was shredded for 422 yards by Aaron Rodgers.
In an attempt to both get some experience into their young cornerback room and another warm body to play outside, Philly has signed free agent cornerback Orlando Scandrick.
A former fifth-round pick out of Boise State, Scandrick played the first nine years of his career with the Dallas Cowboys. While usually in the slot, Scandrick eventually worked his way up the ranks and became an outside starter for a few seasons.
After being cut by the Washington Redskins last offseason, Scandrick signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he played in 15 regular season games and started in both playoff games. A solid outside blitzer, Scandrick has recorded 443 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and 9 interceptions during his 10-year career.
By no means an All-Pro, Scandrick can at least provide SOME consistency to this beat-up group for the time being. Who knows, maybe he'll find the fountain of youth and return to his early 2010s days in Dallas.
