This Eagles-Broncos Trade for Alshon Jeffery Makes Sense
By Evan Wolff

Alshon Jeffery's tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles can be described as tumultuous at best. What once started as a partnership filled with anticipation, Jeffery's four-year, $52 million contract extension in 2017 has become a nuisance for the Eagles' front office. After a rocky and injury-riddled 2019 campaign, Jeffery has had his name turn up in trade rumors during the offseason.
So who would be the possible landing spots for the 30-year-old former Pro Bowler? With a cap hit of nearly $35 million over the next two years, Jeffery's next team must be willing to eat most of that salary. The Denver Broncos could provide a good landing spot for the veteran, especially after Emmanuel Sanders left town last year.
WRs with Highest 2020 Salary Cap Hit

Sammy Watkins - $21M
Julio Jones - $20.4M
Mike Evans - $18.4M
Tyreek Hill - $17.7M
Brandin Cooks - $16.8M
Davante Adams - $16.5M
Alshon Jeffery - $15.4M
Allen Robinson - $15M
Michael Thomas - $15M
Jarvis Landry - $14.6M
TY Hilton - $14.5M
For the Broncos to consider taking on Jeffery's contract, the Eagles likely wouldn't receive a huge haul, though they'd have more spending power if they got him off the books. A deal including a mid-round pick, possibly Denver's fourth-rounder, could entice Howie Roseman to part with Jeffery.
Jeffery's cap hit is a clear reason why he already isn't on the move out of Philadelphia. However, a team like the Broncos, with estimated cap room of about $22 million following the release of Joe Flacco, could be the perfect team to take on his deal and provide second-year QB Drew Lock with a veteran target to pair alongside emerging star Courtland Sutton.
Before the official start of the new year, John Elway has:

-Added a five-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman
-Added a stud G/C
-Added a starting CB
-Added a backup QB
Nicely done.
John Elway has had an active offseason trying to get his Broncos back in to a position to contend. The acquisition of Jurrell Casey was a big get for Denver, but bringing Jeffery to the mix would further fortify the offense while adding some much-needed experience to Pat Shurmur's offense.
