After the selection of Daniel Jones, keeping former Richmond quarterback and 2018 fourth-round pick Kyle Lauletta on the roster was extremely unlikely. Pat Shurmur and the New York Giants did the inevitable when they cut Lauletta after the preseason.

He immediately landed with a division rival, as the Philadelphia Eagles added him to their practice squad.

During his final year at Richmond, Lauletta emerged as one of the best FCS quarterbacks in the country, throwing for 3,737 yards and 28 touchdowns for the Spiders. The Giants selected him after his MVP performance at the Senior Bowl.

He three just five passes for the Giants, none of which were completed and one of which was intercepted. While those are some horrid numbers, five passes aren't enough to judge a quarterback, and he has an accurate enough arm to stick as a backup.

Lauletta was poor draft choice from Dave Gettleman, but luckily for him he didn't wash out of the NFL after one year and has been given another chance in Philadelphia.
