Eagles Congratulate Andy Reid After Super Bowl LIV Win in Classy Tweet
By Scott Rogust
No coach has received more flak in the better part of two decades than Andy Reid. Numerous heartbreaking playoff losses and questionable coaching strategies have made Reid a proverbial punching bag for the media.
That all changed on Feb. 2, as he coached the Kansas City Chiefs to a 31-20 comeback victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. Reid can now call himself a Super Bowl champion.
Shortly after the win, Reid's former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, congratulated him on winning his first-ever Lombardi Trophy.
Classy move by the Eagles, who have been actively rooting for Reid leading up to the big game. In fact, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie attended Super Bowl LIV in Miami to see Reid win in person.
Back in 2005, Reid was the sideline boss for the Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX. Despite being a juggernaut that year, the Eagles ended up falling to Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.
Reid endured a brutal 15-year stretch without reaching the Super Bowl after that loss, but it's finally behind him. While his Hall of Fame credentials were already solidified, the Lombardi Trophy makes him a no-doubt inductee.
The entire football world was pulling for Reid, and they got to see him have his career-defining moment.
