Eagles DE Derek Barnett Fined for Brutal Hit That Knocked Out Packers RB Jamaal Williams
By Ryan Giglio

One of the scarier scenes in Week 4 was Packers running back Jamaal Williams getting knocked out after a scary helmet-to-helmet hit from Eagles defender Derek Barnett.
Barnett and the Eagles were penalized after the illegal blow to the head, and the defensive end will be disciplined further.
On Saturday, it was revealed that Barnett's punishment would also include a $28,075 fine from the NFL.
#Eagles DE Derek Barnett was fined $28,075 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on #Packers RB Jamaal Williams, who was briefly hospitalized after the scary collision ... and Barnett’s teammates Rudy Ford and Zach Ertz were fined $28,075 each for unnecessary roughness in the same game.

Many fans wanted the league to suspend Barnett for the unnecessarily aggressive and dirty hit. Some even question the NFL's integrity regarding its stance on player safety and concussions if Barnett wasn't going to be seriously punished.
The league suspended Raiders linebacker Vontaze Burfict for the rest of the season after an incredibly uncalled for helmet-to-helmet tackle on Colts TE Jack Doyle. While this punishment stems from Burfict's lengthy history of dirty plays, Barnett is seemingly building a similar reputation for himself.

Two other Eagles, Rudy Ford and Zach Ertz, were also fined for unnecessary roughness in this game. Helmet-to-helmet hits are a big problem in the NFL, and the league may want to start being more stern with punishments to combat the issue.
