Eagles Expected to Fire Mike Groh and Carson Walch Despite Doug Pederson's Guarantee They'd Be Back

The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to see some coaching overhaul ahead of the 2020 season, and it seems just about no one is safe -- not even those who were informed they'd be back on the staff next year by head coach Doug Pederson himself.

Despite Pederson publicly stating that offensive coordinator Mike Groh and wide receiver's coach Carson Walch would be retained by the team, that doesn't appear to be the plan, after all.

According to Adam Schefter, the Eagles are expected to part ways with both Groh and Walch on Thursday.

Pederson said Groh and Walch would "both be back" on Wednesday, even going as far as to state they did an "excellent job" in 2019.

The Eagles' offense, despite the myriad of injuries that decimated the unit, ranked 14th in total yards and 12th in points scored. Despite featuring multiple inexperienced wideouts, Philly managed to finish the year 16th in receiving yards and 12th in receiving touchdowns. Considering the personnel the Eagles deployed at wide receiver, those are solid numbers.

Groh has been Philly's offensive coordinator since 2018, having been promoted from his previous post as the Eagles' wide receivers coach, a role which was then passed down to Walch.
