Eagles Eyeing Extensions for Zach Ertz, Lane Johnson, and Malcolm Jenkins
By Michael Luciano
The Philadelphia Eagles already locked up elite offensive guard Brandon Brooks on a long-term extension, and now it looks like they're moving towards locking down an additional three members of their core.
Philly plans to sign tight end Zach Ertz, offensive tackle Lane Johnson, and safety Malcolm Jenkins to long-term extensions at some point throughout the season.
Ertz, a two-time Pro Bowler, has 46 catches for 527 yards and two touchdowns in his age-29 season. He's tallied 31 receiving touchdowns and emerged as one of the best tight ends in football since debuting in Philly back in 2013.
As for Johnson, the offensive lineman has allowed just one sack this season, while being given a solid grade of 82.8 from Pro Football Focus.
Jenkins has 39 tackles and 0.5 sacks this season, and at 32, he is the oldest of the three players mentioned. He's been with the Eagles since 2014, making three Pro Bowls with the franchise.
The Eagles have some noticeable holes, but tight end, offensive tackle, and safety are not one of them. Locking these three up ensures that Philly will be well-equipped for a few more championship runs in the near future.
