Eagles Get Bleak Injury Updates on Alshon Jeffery and Jordan Howard
By Michael Luciano
Few teams in the NFL this year have been bitten by the injury bug as severely as the Philadelphia Eagles.
After entering a Monday Night Football game against the New York Giants with just three healthy receivers, a number that later became just one due to injuries, Philly was dealt some horrible news before their game against the Washington Redskins. We knew Alshon Jeffery was done for the year, but now he'll undergo Lisfranc surgery and his timetable to return is unknown.
Jeffery has been limited to just 10 games this season, with 43 catches and 490 yards to his name in 2019.
The long-suffering Eagles ground game was dealt another major blow when head coach Doug Pederson confirmed that running back Jordan Howard has not yet been cleared for contact, implying that he is all but out for the Washington game and possibly beyond.
Miles Sanders and Boston Scott will handle running back duties against the Redskins.
The likes of Scott and Greg Ward might have been able to hold down the fort for a home game against the Giants, but Philly's push towards the playoffs could get really messy without their starting running back a No. 1 wide receiver.
