Eagles Insider Reveals Intel on Philly's Draft Preferences in First Round
By Thomas Carannante
The Philadelphia Eagles are not in a spot in the NFL Draft where they can select a prospect of their choice -- unless they trade up. If they stay at No. 21, they'll be at the mercy of whoever falls to them.
While trading up sounds like a good, bold idea, Philly might not need to. A couple of their reported targets could be available at No. 21, especially with buzz that the Denver Broncos could trade up to select Jerry Jeudy (previous mock drafts had them snagging LSU wideout Justin Jefferson at No. 15).
Eagles insider Howard Eskin provided his thoughts on the team's plans come Thursday night.
Eskin revealed the Eagles are all but certain to take Jefferson if he's available. If he's not, they could select his LSU teammate, linebacker Patrick Queen. If both of those scenarios aren't there for the Birds, Eskin thinks they'll trade back, add some more draft capital, and take another receiver.
Quite frankly, this conservative plan shouldn't surprise anyone. The Eagles need a wideout and a linebacker, so if both or one of those guys are available at No. 21, Philly's got their man. If Alabama's Henry Ruggs somehow drops to them, that'll be the dream scenario, per Eskin.
If none of those opportunities present themselves, expect a trade down.
But if general manager Howie Roseman is feeling like making a big move, throw these scenarios out the window. We could see Philly land CeeDee Lamb if he decides to jump up 9-11 spots on Thursday.
