Adam Schefter Suggests Eagles Drafted Jalen Hurts Because of COVID-19 Concerns and We're Very Confused
By Scott Rogust
Of all the potential landing spots for Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts, nobody, and we mean nobody, expected it to be the Philadelphia Eagles. The Philly faithful are loudly questioning why general manager Howie Roseman would make such a decision.
ESPN's Adam Schefter thinks he knows why, though, as he expressed his belief that Philadelphia drafted Hurts...just in case Carson Wentz caught the coronavirus?
We need help processing this one. We expected someone like Colin Cowherd or Stephen A. Smith to make such a preposterous reach, not Schefter.
Come on Adam, everyone knows why the Eagles opted to select Hurts with the 53rd overall pick. Wentz has proven throughout his four-year career that he simply can't stay healthy. From a torn knee, to back issues, to a concussion in the 2019 NFC Wild Card Round, the four-year veteran has shown he can't stay out of the blue medical tent. He's not exactly injury prone, but he's clearly had bad luck.
The COVID-19 pandemic is something to take very seriously, but to use the virus as reasoning why the Eagles would take a backup quarterback is beyond ludicrous. If this was truly the case, there would be more teams selecting quarterbacks during Day 2 of the draft! If Schefter's reasoning had any wings, why were the Eagles the only team to select a signal caller on Friday evening?
We'll sit and wait for a rebuttal.
