Eagles Letting Super Bowl Standout Corey Clement Hit Free Agency is a Bad Call by Front Office

Unless the Philadelphia Eagles think they can easily get Corey Clement back in free agency, their decision not to place an RFA tender on him isn't a smart one, especially with Darren Sproles retiring and Jordan Howard set to hit the open market.

Fans witnessed firsthand last year what it was like when the Eagles dealt with injuries and lack of depth in the backfield. Boston Scott stepped up admirably, but does the front office really want to roll the dice with just Scott, Miles Sanders (also injury-prone as we saw last year), Tremon Smith and Ejijah Holyfield on the roster for 2020?

Clement has already proven to be a very good change-of-pace back for the Eagles, though his numbers never really popped off the page because he was fighting for playing time back when Jay Ajayi was running the show. But he passed the eye test in 2017 and 2018 and came up huge for Philly in Super Bowl LII with four receptions for 100 yards and a key touchdown.

The former Wisconsin running back had his 2019 season cut short due to injury, and that's seemingly sealed his fate in Philly.

You can bet another team is going to bring the 25-year-old in on a team-friendly deal. The Eagles will be kicking themselves when he's gone and one of their running backs is hampered to start the year due to an untimely injury.
