Eagles Need to Actually Show up for the 1st Half of Games or Face the Consequences

The Philadelphia Eagles dropped a heartbreaker to the Atlanta Falcons, losing 24-20 on Sunday Night Football to drop to 1-1 on the 2019 season.

If anything is to contribute to the Eagles' loss, it's due to their poor first half of the game, and if this trend continues, they'll be in a world of trouble.

In their home opener last week, the Eagles faced a 20-7 deficit at halftime to the NFC East rival Washington Redskins. Yet, they dodged a bullet, and earned the 32-27 win.

Philadelphia avoided no such thing in Week 2. Carson Wentz looked dreadful in the first half, as he completed 6-of-16 pass attempts for 47 yards and two interceptions, while getting sacked once, culminating in a quarterback rating of 6.3.

While many will point to the injuries to DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery and Dallas Goedert, we point to Week 1, where this Eagles offense struggled to get anything going in the first half with everyone healthy.

Once the second half begins, the real Eagles show up. Despite Wentz's ridiculous heroics in the fourth quarter, it proved to be too little too late for Philly, thanks to a late Julio Jones touchdown.

This is not ideal for an Eagles team that's this stacked on the offensive side of the ball. What makes matters worse is that they're in the same division as the Dallas Cowboys, who remain undefeated through the first two weeks of season.

If this team wants to contend for the Super Bowl, they simply have to show up in the first half from here on out.
