Eagles Need to Win NFC East and Put Cowboys Out of Their Misery
By Scott Rogust
The NFC East continues to be a dumpster fire, where nobody seems to want to win it. At the top of the division are the Dallas Cowboys, who fell to 6-7 on the season after losing 31-24 to the Chicago Bears on Thursday night.
This is it for the Philadelphia Eagles. They have to take the division lead, which is continuously being handed to them on a silver platter by the Cowboys, and that all starts this week.
Remember last week, when the Cowboys lost to the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving? Everyone and their grandmother thought the Eagles would defeat the Miami Dolphins.
Instead, they got their pants pulled down by the once-lowly team, as they were picked apart by journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick and attacked by the supposed second-coming of Randy Moss in DeVante Parker.
When looking at the Eagles remaining schedule, it's nearly impossible for them to screw up this opportunity.
They face a New York Giants team that's the worst in the entire conference on Monday night. Then, there are the 3-9 Washington Redskins who, you guessed it, are still mathematically in the division race, despite their numerous flaws. In Week 16, the Eagles have the chance to stick a fork in the Cowboys at home. Finally, Philly faces the Giants, again, to conclude their season.
Other teams in the conference would kill to face three NFC East teams in their final four games of the season.
There it is Carson Wentz and Doug Pederson, the division is yours for the taking. If you can't do so, the NFL should just rearrange the division to prevent an NFC East debacle to ever happen again.
