Eagles OC Mike Groh is Somehow Being Considered as Potential NFL Head Coaching Candidate
By Sean Facey
Plenty of NFL teams will be in search of a new head coach this offseason, but they seem to be looking at an odd list of candidates.
Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Mike Groh has apparently emerged as a possible head coaching candidate for some odd reason.
Groh took over as offensive coordinator in 2018 following the Eagles' Super Bowl victory, and it's safe to say that the results have been less than impressive.
Last year, the Eagles finished 18th in points per game, 17th in yards per play and 13th in scoring percentage. Though they've scored more in 2019, they rank 22nd in yards per play and 17th in scoring percentage.
By most measures, they have been incredibly sub-par on offense during Groh's brief tenure as offensive coordinator. Why any NFL team would think he's suited for a head coaching role honestly defies comprehension.
He hasn't shown any tactical brilliance or explosive potential despite the fact that he has a relatively talented roster featuring Carson Wentz, Miles Sanders, Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz.
Perhaps he could surpass expectations and flourish as a head coach, but considering the other options that will be available to teams, it sure is a head-scratcher as to why his name is one to watch.
