Eagles OL Isaac Seumalo Turned in Arguably the Worst Performance of All Time Against the Falcons
By Karl Rasmussen
The Philadelphia Eagles took their first loss of the season on Sunday, falling to the Atlanta Falcons 24-20. One of the main issues for Philly was their offensive line, as Carson Wentz was frequently pressured by members of Atlanta's defense throughout the night.
Well, one individual stood out as being particularly ineffective in the trenches: guard Isaac Seumalo. According to Pro Football Focus, Seumalo's individual performance actually ranks as one of the worst ever.
Seumalo was getting torched left and right by Falcons' linemen. He surrendered two sacks, six quarterback hurries and was penalized three times. To make things worse, there wasn't a single area he excelled in, receiving equally depressing grades in terms of both run blocking and pass blocking.
Wentz was sacked three times in the game, with Grady Jarrett, Vic Beasley and Adrian Clayborn each getting after the QB. On two of those sacks, the finger could be pointed at Seumalo's lack of protection.
And it was evident to fans watching at home how much of a liability Seumato was.
It wouldn't be surprising if Seumato were to see less usage in Week 3. Perhaps Vitai Halapoulivaati or Matt Pryor will leap frog him on the depth chart and be given an opportunity to steal reps.
