Eagles Promote CB Craig James From Practice Squad Amid Series of Roster Moves
By Sam Dunn
The Philadelphia Eagles, fresh off a rousing win over the division rival Redskins on Sunday, are making moves to bolster their ranks ahead of the Week 2 trip to Atlanta to take on the Falcons in primetime.
First, the team confirmed this week that second-year cornerback Craig James has been signed from the practice squad to Philly's 53-man roster
James, who went undrafted last year out of Southern Illinois, played in three games as a rookie in 2018 as a member of the Minnesota Vikings. Additionally, tight end Alex Ellis is back with the practice squad after previously being waived from the active roster.
To round out the news, the Eagles reached an injury settlement with veteran tight end Richard Rodgers, who appeared in seven games for the team a season ago but ultimately succumbed to foot problems, and released him.
Fresh off an exciting victory over Washington, Doug Pederson's team has high hopes to keep things rolling heading into Sunday. Kickoff from Mercedes-Benz Stadium is scheduled for 8:20 p.m.
