Eagles Front Office Should Absolutely Listen to Carson Wentz's Input Regarding 2020 NFL Draft
By Scott Rogust
It's no secret that the Eagles need reinforcements at wide receiver. Philadelphia carried a skeleton crew at the position into the playoffs and it was clearly holding them back. The Eagles didn't address their positional need in free agency, so they will look to the NFL Draft to add some quality players.
As it turns out, the Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that starting quarterback Carson Wentz's voice "has carried significant weight with some in the front office." To be quite honest, Wentz's opinion should matter in this year's draft, so the team's executives are smart to listen to their franchise quarterback.
It's not just this year that Wentz is having an influence on the Eagles' personnel decisions. General manager Howie Roseman drafted players like offensive tackle Andre Dillard, wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside, and tight end Dallas Goedert, all of whom are represented by Rep1 Football, the agency that Wentz is affiliated with.
The Eagles are expected to use their one or more of their top selections on a wideout and there's also the possibility they could trade up in the first round to get one of the top pass catchers in the 2020 class. Hopefully the front office is listening to Wentz in terms of who he thinks would fit best in the team's offense.
Philadelphia placed all their eggs in Wentz's basket after locking him in to a four-year, $128 million contract. He's without a doubt the face of the franchise, so it's up to the Eagles to keep him happy and supported at all costs.
