Here’s What the Eagles QB Depth Chart Would Look Like if They Signed Colin Kaepernick
By Michael Luciano
Given the tidal wave of protests centered around racial justice and the NFL's sudden about face on the whole ordeal, Colin Kaepernick might actually end up with an NFL job after being blackballed a few years ago.
Doug Pederson has talked up the idea of signing Kaepernick, leaving Philadelphia as, what feels like, one of the teams most likely to take a chance on the former NFC champion.
The Eagles have expressed interest in bringing Kaepernick in for a workout, and he wouldn't exactly be buried on the depth chart if Philadelphia decides to sign him.
2020 Eagles QB Depth Chart
Carson Wentz
Colin Kaepernick
Jalen Hurts
The odd man out in this arrangement is Nate Sudfeld. While he has played well in limited action, he has by far the lowest ceiling of any of these four quarterbacks.
Wentz is the starter. There is no point arguing that and anyone who says otherwise is trying to get a reaction out of you. Kaepernick should have the inside track on the backup job over the 2020 second-round pick, as Pederson has confirmed Hurts will start the year as the No. 3 quarterback due to Philadelphia's complex offense. This can, and should, open the door for Kaepernick to essentially walk in and secure the No. 2 quarterback gig.
Kaepernick would not only be a fit with the Eagles' locker room culture and offensive scheme, but he might be in a position to take over one of the best backup jobs in all of football.
