Eagles RB Miles Sanders Still Isn't Practicing With Team for Some Reason

NFL Combine - Day 2
NFL Combine - Day 2 / Joe Robbins

Former Penn State running back and current Philadelphia Eagles rookie Miles Sanders is primed to have a big role with the team in his rookie season. His former teammate at PSU Saquon Barkley even claimed Sanders was the best all-around back in this year's draft.

But for some reason, Sanders hasn't been participating in OTAs with the team, and no one seems to know exactly why.

Although the Eagles traded for former Bears running back Jordan Howard this offseason, many envisioned Sanders as the third-down back in Doug Pederson's offense this year. If he's not getting key reps in the early going, it could affect his playing time.

Howard has never been much a receiving back during his time in the NFL, only tallying 72 catches and one receiving touchdown in three years with the Bears. So inserting a back like Sanders in to the mix seems like a natural fit, especially since Doug Pederson loves spreading the wealth in his offense, and he really loves getting his backs involved in the passing game.

The Birds dealt with a handful of injuries to their backfield last season and made sure to stack up on a ton of backs this year, so if Sanders is unable to contribute, they still have Corey Clement, Josh Adams and others waiting for more reps.
