Eagles Reportedly Agree to Record-Breaking Contract Extension With OL Lane Johnson
By Mark Powell

Philly fans have every right to be upset with this year's iteration of the Eagles, but very little of that has to do with Lane Johnson.
In fact, Johnson is consistently rated among the top offensive linemen in the game, protecting Carson Wentz and producing open running lanes for the Eagles' stable of backs. While Wentz continues to work out his kinks post-injury, the Eagles have locked up Johnson long-term, whose absence against the Patriots a few weeks back only further cemented how essential he is.
Sources: The #Eagles have agreed to a four-year, $72 million extension with right tackle Lane Johnson that includes $54.595 guaranteed. It is the largest contract for an NFL offensive lineman in history on a per-year and guarantee basis.

Johnson is arguably one of the best right tackles in all of football, and his position as anchor of this Eagles offensive line changes everything moving forward for Doug Pederson and Co.
The extension is perfectly-timed as well, as Johnson is set to return from injury this week against the Dolphins. Philly should handle Miami easily, before heading into a key four-game stretch to end the season against all divisional opponents, including a Week 16 contest against the Cowboys.
#Eagles and RT Lane Johnson have reached agreement on a 4-year, $72M extension with over $54M guaranteed, per @MikeGarafolo. Massive deal for one of the best in the league.

Wentz and the Eagles offense as a whole is still a question mark heading into the tail end of the season, but if they are to have any success, Johnson will play a major role.
