Jadeveon Clowney has been seeking a lucrative contract extension for quite some time. However, any potential progress in talks was immediately halted when the Texans elected to franchise tag the star pass rusher in the offseason, forcing him to question is future in Houston.

The franchise has the cap space to extend the three-time Pro-Bowler, but, for reasons we are having trouble fathoming, they remain determined to nickel-and-dime him.

The Eagles, given their need for pass rushers to complement the likes of Fletcher Cox and Malik Jackson, were presumed to be a viable suitor for Clowney. Despite all of that, Philadelphia is reportedly showing minimal (if any) interest in bringing him aboard.

Answer this, City of Brotherly Love devotees: are you really confident in Derek Barnett and Josh Sweat to post world-beating numbers in 2019?

Barnett's best season in the league came in 2017 where he recorded just 21 tackles and five sacks in 15 games. Sweat, on the other hand, appeared in just nine games last season for Philly, during which he recorded one tackle.

If you're confident after coming to terms with those uninspiring stats, coupled with the fact the Eagles have the O-line depth to make this deal happen, then you might be insane.

Clowney's previously-prevalent injury woes are long behind him. Further, he's logged 18.5 sacks and 42 quarterback hits over the last two campaigns. To say that we're confused wouldn't even begin to describe our feelings toward the Eagles' reluctance to go after the former South Carolina stud.
