Eagles Reportedly Tried Hard to Move up for CeeDee Lamb But Had to Watch Cowboys Take Him Instead
Oh, what could have been for the Eagles. On Thursday night, Philly stunned some folks out there by passing on LSU's Justin Jefferson and selecting TCU wide receiver Jalen Reagor with the No. 21 overall pick instead.
As it turns out, Philly had its eyes set on a different wideout from the start. Per a report, Howie Roseman wanted CeeDee Lamb BAD, but couldn't work his magic this time around to move up in the first round.
This has to sting a bit for Eagles fans. Not only did the organization fail to get their top WR target, even as he fell, but they also had to sit back and watch Jerry Jones and the Cowboys draft him instead. Anyone but Dallas, right?
Last fall, Lamb put up video game-type numbers for Oklahoma, catching 62 balls for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns, breaking trillions of tackles in the process. He could have been hauling in passes from Carson Wentz, but instead will be making plays for Dak Prescott and Co. next campaign. Brutal.
For now, Philly Nation can only hope Reagor turns out to be a total stud and helps the team capture yet another NFL East title in 2020. If he doesn't and Lamb blows up, we'll indeed be left thinking what could have been for the Birds, if anyone would've only let them swap selections.
