Eagles RT Lane Johnson Taken Into Locker Room After Sustaining Apparent Head Injury Against Patriots
By Karl Rasmussen
The Eagles offensive line just suffered a major blow during a game in which it absolutely needs to be at full strength.
Star offensive tackle Lane Johnson was carted off the field while the team was on defense, heading to the locker room with an apparent head injury.
Johnson is being evaluated for a concussion, and it's not quite clear when he picked up the knock to his head, but he was seen exiting the field on a cart while the Patriots had possession.
Halapoulivaati Vaitai entered the game in Johnson's stead, getting the nod over Andre Dillard to enter the game at right tackle.
Johnson was immediately missed by the Eagles offense, as they went three-and-out on the very next drive, including a play in which Carson Wentz was sacked.
The 29-year-old has started all nine games for the Eagles this season, and was looking to earn his third consecutive invite to the Pro Bowl. His loss could have a major impact on the Eagles as they look to protect their early lead over the Pats.
