Eagles Rule Out Lane Johnson and Dallas Goedert for Rest of Preseason
By Charles Nason
In what's starting to seem like an annual occurance, the Philadelphia Eagles are already dealing with injuries.
After they dropped their first preseason game to the Titans, the talk around town was of backup QB Nate Sudfeld who had surgery done this week to repair a broken wrist. Now, however, two more players for Philly look like they wont see the field until Week 1.
For the remainder of the preseason, you won't be seeing Lane Johnson or Dallas Goedert. Goedert, currently battling calf issues, has been a breakout stud for the Eagles. Serving as backup to Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz, Goedert has given Philly a dual-threat at the position.
On the other hand, Johnson is struggling with knee problems that now have him, along with Goedert, listed as "week-to-week".
Eagles fans can breath a sigh of relief, though, knowing that neither Goedert or Johnson's injuries seem to be too serious. In all likelihood, Philadelphia doesn't want to take any risks, making sure these guys are ready and healthy for Week 1.
While the Eagles don't have much to worry about with Ertz in front of Goedert at tight end, Johnson is a different story. The former Oklahoma star has been irreplaceable on their offensive line over the past six seasons.
If both of their injuries aren't actually that serious, than there should be no problems once the Eagles Week 1 meeting with the Redskins rolls around. Until then, Goedert and Johnson, along with plenty of other starters, will get some much-needed down time to get ready for the regular season.
